Brian Whiteley
President & Founder
Brian is a 1993 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ where he obtained a B.S. in Chemistry. He was a 3-year starter in Goal for the Devils Lacrosse Team, MVP in 1989, and is currently ranked #4 in Career Saves. Brian continued his playing career post collegiately with Killian's Red Lacrosse Club and eventually went on to assist in the formation of the West Jersey Lacrosse Club, playing in the Central Atlantic Lacrosse League.
During the early 90's, Brian assisted in the development of the earliest youth lacrosse programs in his home town of Clinton Township, NJ. He is currently the Boy's Director with Junior Lions Lacrosse Club handling all aspects of the boys youth lacrosse program. Additionally, Brian coaches with Team 91 West NJ working with goalkeepers and the youth based teams.
Brian is a US Lacrosse Level 2 Certified Coach, a NJILOA High School Official, completed his Masters in Recreation and Sport Sciences from Ohio University in 2017, and has attended numerous coaching clinics focused on the development of fundamentals in youth lacrosse. Brian founded First Shot Lacrosse in 2013 with the main goal to help young players develop the necessary fundamental skills to excel at the next level, whether it is a local youth program, school program, or an elite travel team. First Shot Lacrosse follows the US Lacrosse ADM to help develop the entire athlete for a lifelong love of lacrosse. Contact Coach Brian.

Nick Medvedich
Director
Nick Medvedich, a 1995 graduate of Kean University with a B.S. in Marketing Management, joins First Shot Lacrosse as a director. Nick was a 4 year letter winner for the Cougars, where he was one of the most prolific scorers in school history. He totaled 392 points on 217 goals (2nd all-time) and 175 assists( 2nd all-time), which puts him as the career leader for Kean University. Additionally, Nick was a 4-year Knickerbocker Conference All-Star, selected Team MVP twice, and one of only five players in program history to be selected to the prestigious North-South All-Star game. He was inducted into the Kean University Hall of Fame in 2004 and is a 2011 inductee into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Nick is a graduate of Johnson Regional HS in Clark, NJ where he was a 3 year Lacrosse Varsity Letter winner. He returned to Johnson Regional HS after college to be Assistant Varsity Coach, Head Junior Varsity and Head Freshman lacrosse coach from 2000-2007. Nick is a US Lacrosse Level 2 Certified Coach, currently in charge of player development with Junior Lions Lacrosse Club, focusing on implementing techniques that improve player development and lacrosse IQ. He is also a coach with Team 91 West New Jersey working with the 2025/2026 youth teams.
Nick shares in the vision of First Shot Lacrosse in helping young players develop the necessary fundamentals that will allow them to achieve success in the sport of lacrosse. Contact Coach Nick.
